Our Training Courses

Unity FCS offer a selection of Financial Crime (FC) risk training courses, which are currently being delivered online via virtual classrooms, for ease and flexibility.

All sessions have been designed by Sally Waddingham, a mortgage industry & financial crime risk expert. Sally shares over 30 years of extensive knowledge and real-life experiences. She delivers bespoke sessions, ensuring they are relevant, engaging and provide essential learning, complementing and adding real value to any existing FC risk support that firms may already have in place.

Current training sessions are suitable for business owners, mortgage advisers, mortgage administrators and supervisors and anyone involved in the mortgage lending process. The AML session is also relevant to IFA’s and those in the property sector. Certificates confirming completion of the sessions will provide unstructured CPD for each delegate.

Mortgage Fraud Awareness and Skills Workshops

Mortgage fraud continues to pose increasing risks for those working in the mortgage and lending sector. Many mortgage borrowers are facing financial stress and uncertainty, resulting in some mortgage applicants committing fraud, to obtain a mortgage they can no longer afford or where they are unable to meet lending criteria. Criminals are also assisting these individuals, by using reputable brokers to ‘unwittingly’ peddle through fraudulent mortgage business, putting the livelihood of these professionals at risk. Raising awareness and knowledge around mortgage fraud risks is now essential, to avoid serious issues and consequences for all mortgage brokers and professionals involved in the mortgage application process.

The two bespoke Mortgage Fraud Awareness and Skills sessions provide essential, relevant and extensive learning, specifically for mortgage professionals involved in the application process. The interactive content provides invaluable insights, highlighting mortgage fraud activities, the threats they pose, hot topics, third party threats and legal responsibilities, during the mortgage and lending process. The presenter shares real life case studies and examples, providing guidance and best practice, to help delegates become proactive and spot the signs of fraud. This will improve business quality and help avoid serious issues, which can lead to lender panel removal and loss of reputation and livelihood.

Anti Money Laundering Awareness and Skills Workshop

Understanding and meeting legal and regulatory requirements around Anti Money Laundering (AML) is essential for professionals working in Financial Services. Increasingly, organised criminals are laundering the proceeds of crime, via property transactions. Mortgage Advisers and professionals involved in the lending process must ensure they are adequately verifying clients and carrying out relevant due diligence, as well as identifying and reporting suspicious activity, to avoid serious legal & regulatory censure, including criminal prosecution.

This essential session covers important AML risks and procedures, ensuring that those working within the regulatory regime raise awareness and knowledge, to understand the legal and regulatory requirements for identifying and reporting money laundering. The session also covers guidance and best practice around due diligence and ID and verification of clients. Sharing real life case studies and examples and providing expert guidance around due diligence, will help delegates to mitigate, spot and avoid serious issues, which will support and enhance understanding around existing regulatory and legal requirements, relating to AML risks.
